Related to Ophrys holoserica (O. fuciflora) and perhaps merely a near eastern subspecies of it. Also closely related to O. levantina from which it supposedly differs in the angle of inclination of the lip and in the lip markings. Also differing in flowering time: in Cyprus O. bornmuelleri flowers about two weeks later than O. levantina. Both species have very small petals compared to other members of the O. holoserica complex. In garigue, maquis, pine woods. |
