| Description: | |
The cave is a linear stream cave which follows the Pollaraftra fault closely and is developed in the bedded flank facies of the carbonate mudbanks of the Knockmore Limestone Member. In the first 400m of the cave however there are a number of shale beds within the limestones. A number of inlet tributaries, with associated passages, join the main stream in the initial half of the cave. The second half of the cave leading to the resurgence is characterised by a low level active, often phreatic streamway with a well decorated fossil passage above. | |
